TOURNAMENT HISTORY:

This historic Ontario Lacrosse Association Invitational Tournament is named after one of the ODMLA's founding fathers, Mr. Barry Burman.

Barry Burman first became involved in Orangeville Lacrosse in 1975 as a Coach of the Orangeville Stingers and continued to coach until 1979. He coached the Stingers to the Jr. C. Ontario Championships in 1976.

Barry was a player in the inaugural season of the Orangeville Northmen Senior B Lacrosse team in 1978 and continued to play into his late 30's until 1989. He was a member of 3 President Cup teams during this time.  Barry remained involved in lacrosse at the minor level as Coach for over 15 years. He was a member of the Orangeville Northmen Jr. A Executive from 1992-1996: three Minto Cup Championships were won during this period.

Barry was a Player, Coach, Volunteer and Executive Member of the Orangeville Northmen Lacrosse Association, but mostly, he was a fan of the game of Lacrosse and passionate about being involved with the sport.  After a hard fought battle with cancer, Barry passed away August 5, 1998. Barry's family continues to live and play in Orangeville, and on June 24, 2012, the ODMLA presented the Burman family with a plaque at the Summer Shootout honouring Mr. Burman and recognizing Barry's great achievements and contributions to Orangeville Lacrosse.

The Orangeville Northmen, along with the Burman family, look forward to a competitive, memorable and fun weekend of lacrosse at this annual tournament.
